Tonight is the big night: our first official evening opening, and our first quiz night. We are delighted to announce that we now have a drinks license so will be offering wines, ciders and Gower Brewery ales and lagers.
Tonight we’ll also be serving up an extended Panini Menu for anyone who fancies food. This includes the addition of Brie and Cranberry, Chicken and Pesto, Mozzarella and Sundried Tomato Pesto, as well as our usuals. While tomorrow night Mary is cooking up a Tex Mex feast for the first of our weekly food and music nights (Sorry the Set Menu is already sold out. Book for next week) Friday’s performers are three of South Wales’ very finest singer songwriters: Steve Balsamo, Andy Morse and Andy Collins. Doors open at 8 for music.
Steve first made his name playing the lead role in Jesus Christ Superstar in the West End in the 1990s, then formed the country rock band The Storys in 2004. More recently he has pursued other projects, including releasing an EP under the name Oystermouth with Andy Collins, one of his bandmates from The Storys.
He is also a prolific songwriter, having penned hits for the likes of Meatloaf and Slash of Guns N’ Roses.
Andy Collins, who appears with Steve on Friday, is a highly respected bass player, singer and songwriter, and has just finished mastering his second album at Abbey Road Studios.
Further brilliance comes from Andy Morse, a highly respected singer/songwriter who recently signed to Peter Gabriel’s label. Along with original songs, Andy also plays Motown and soul covers plus classic and modern acoustic covers of songs by the likes of Neil Young, Tom Petty and Johnny Cash.
We’re delighted to have three such amazing musicians all playing at the coffee house. Each of them has made his mark on his own, and to have them all together is a huge treat.
