August update

What a wet and busy summer we’re having! We hope you’re having a good one, and if you’d like to brighten up your week by coming to see us we have plenty of interesting things on offer besides our usual cakes, coffees and other goodies.

If your children are getting restless, Mary is running Miss Mary’s Storytime on Thursday August 10 and Thursday August 17 at 9:30am. She’ll be reading from the Wizard of Oz books that enchanted her as a child, and for any children who are feeling fidgety there is colouring to get on with while listening to the stories.

Food-wise, we have some great Friday evening events running throughout the month. Today it’s burgers and hot dogs from 6pm, and on Friday August 11 we’re welcoming the wonderful Vanita McGlynn back with her pop up Indian kitchen.

On Friday August 18, That Band are playing and we’re serving up Mexican chimichangas from 7 – then, on Friday August 25 it’s Vanita’s pop up Indian kitchen again.

On Friday September 1 the excellent singer-songwriter Sarah Passmore is playing, and we’re cooking up a delicious chorizo and sun dried tomato risotto.

One other date for your diary: Honeysuckle Bereavement Support Group is meeting at the Coffee House from 10am to 11:30am on August 9 & 23, with meetings continuing for the rest of the year. For more information, call 01792 646354.

Whenever you call in to see us, do take a minute to look at the wonderful, vibrant paintings of local scenes that are brightening our walls. They’re the work of local artist Emma Cownie, and we’re holding a raffle to win a print of one of her paintings of the Coffee House. It will be drawn on August 31, with proceeds going to the Tender Heart Foundation, which works to transform the lives of poor people in India. Do pop in and buy a ticket or two!

We hope to see you soon!
