If you’ve called in to see us this month, you’ll probably have noticed the beautiful photographs that adorn our walls. They’re the work of local photographer Roxanne Walchester, who made it her mission to capture the beautiful part of Swansea that lies on our doorstep. Roxanne’s show is part of out rolling programme of exhibitions, which aim to give local artists a platform while brightening our walls and giving our customers something beautiful and interesting to look at. Roxanne’s work will stay on show all month, and it’s available to buy. Besides beautiful big canvases, she has brought in a selection of smaller mounted photographs, so there is a lot to choose from, all at very reasonable prices. An English and piano teacher as well as a keen poet and songwriter, Roxanne’s mission as a photographer is to take pictures of beautiful things. “I wanted to capture the outstanding beauty of the area where I live, particularly Singleton Park, Brynmill Park and Swansea Bay,” she told us. “These are the areas that our local University students enjoy as they walk to their studies. “I made an exhibition for them to celebrate the place where they got their degrees so that they could always remember it. It is also for our local people and visitors to the area who, like me, fall in love with Singleton Park and its environs.” You only have to look at the photographs to feel Roxanne’s love for this beautiful area. “I adore the sea and enjoy living near it,” she said. “I am particularly struck by the way the light changes everything, by detail and vista, and the amazing sky. I feel so blessed to see these things and incredibly excited at having the opportunity to share them with others.” And we’re delighted to help you do that, Roxanne.
